A McMahon legacy
since 1905

McMahon Farms is a family-owned and operated grain farming operation rooted in Galahad, Alberta. We grow yellow field peas, hard red spring wheat, canola, and feed barley. The McMahons homesteaded in Alberta over a century ago and have called the Galahad area home ever since, weaving themselves into the fabric of this small community from its very beginnings.

The McMahon family has farmed this land since 1905, and McMahon Farms Inc. was formally incorporated in 2000. Since then, the operation has grown substantially — a testament to our family's drive, discipline, and belief in the future of agriculture. That growth hasn't slowed our ambition; we continue to pursue every opportunity to expand and strengthen the operation.

Stuart and Cole manage the farm full time, with Tucker pitching in every chance he gets. Rounded out by seasonal help during the busiest stretches of seeding and harvest, the McMahon team doesn't just work the land — we work to thrive in one of Canada's most demanding and rewarding industries. Our focus is simple: steward the land with care, never stop learning, and pass something better on to the next generation.

McMahon Farms

Our grain crops

Canola

The backbone of our rotation. We grow Liberty Link hybrid varieties selected for pod shatter resistance and strong yield potential in the east-central Alberta climate. Canola brings premium oil contracts and keeps our soils productive year after year.

Feed Barley

A resilient and high-yielding cereal well-suited to Flagstaff County's climate. We grow feed barley varieties selected for strong standability and consistent bushel weight, supplying the region's robust livestock and feed grain industry through local elevators.

Field Peas

Yellow field peas play a vital role in our crop rotation — fixing atmospheric nitrogen, breaking cereal disease cycles, and improving soil structure for the crops that follow. We sell into pulse export markets through our local elevator near Galahad.

Hard Red Spring Wheat

CWRS grade spring wheat grown for premium milling markets, seeded with GPS-guided precision on our best-drained soils. Consistent quality and strong protein content make it a reliable anchor crop every season.

Nurturing land, family, and community.

Our family

McMahon Farms is made up of four families — each with their own story, skills, and deep ties to the land and community of Galahad.

Don and Connie McMahon - Fall 2020
D&C
Don & Connie McMahon
The Foundation

Don and Connie are Galahad through and through — both grew up in farming families in the area, and together they built a life rooted in hard work, community, and the land. Over the decades they watched McMahon Farms grow from a modest operation into what it is today, and their contributions to both the farm and the Galahad community never stopped. Whether it was a cemetery cleanup, a community supper, or lending a hand wherever one was needed, Don and Connie always showed up. Don passed away in the spring of 2025, leaving behind a legacy as strong and steady as the land he loved. Connie now resides in Forestburg but remains a cherished part of farm life, visiting often and bringing her famous pie to the field come harvest — a tradition the whole crew looks forward to every year.

Stuart and Joanne McMahon
S&J
Stuart & Joanne McMahon
Deeply Rooted

Stuart and Joanne have made the McMahon farmyard their home and their heart. Stuart has spent his life farming this land and giving back to the industry that shaped him — serving on the boards of the Battle River Research Group and the Galahad Agricultural Society. Joanne has been an early childhood educator in Flagstaff County for 36 years, beginning her career in 1993 and spending 24 of those years teaching in the public system. Over that time she has taught hundreds of children and become a true staple in the community — known as much for her dedication in the classroom as for her tireless community volunteering. In addition to her teaching career, Joanne founded the 100 Women Who Care Flagstaff group, brought Dolly Parton's Imagination Library to Flagstaff County, and continues to run several early childhood development programs in the county including the Building Blocks Family Literacy Program and Busy Bees Early Childhood Learning. Together Stuart and Joanne are proud parents of three boys — Cole, Tucker, and Layton — and have built something rare: a life that is equal parts purposeful and proud, right here in rural Alberta.

Cole and Erinn McMahon

Cole & Erinn McMahon
Next Generation

Cole and Erinn's story started in 4-H, where the two first crossed paths before heading off to the University of Saskatchewan together — Cole to pursue Agribusiness and Erinn Civil Engineering. Raised on a cattle and grain farm near Airdrie, Erinn brought her own deep roots in agriculture to the relationship. After university, she went on to earn both a Master of Structural Engineering and a Master of Business Administration, and now works as a bridge engineer out of Red Deer. Cole, meanwhile, followed his passion back to the family farm, spending three years at ATB Financial as a lending underwriter before returning to McMahon Farms full time. Cole also sits on the Flagstaff County Agriculture Service Board and is a member of the Galahad Lions. The two were married in 2025 and moved into the main farmhouse that same year. In February 2026 they welcomed their first son, Jake — the sixth generation of McMahons to call this land home.

Tucker and Trishanna McMahon

The Future

Tucker didn't stray far from his roots. After earning his Agriculture Management diploma from Olds College, he came straight back to Galahad — working as Facility Manager for the Battle River Railway while keeping one eye firmly on the horizon of farming full time. Trishanna Klatt completed her Veterinary Medical Receptionist diploma at Olds College and now works at Iron Creek Veterinary Hospital in Sedgewick. Both eager and capable, McMahon Farms looks forward to welcoming Tucker and Trishanna to the farm when the time comes.

The people running the operation

SM
Stuart McMahon
Owner & CEO

Stuart earned his Agriculture diploma from Olds College before dedicating his life to McMahon Farms. He has helped grow the operation since its incorporation in 2000, providing the strategic vision and steady hand that has guided the farm's significant expansion over the past 25 years. A lifelong farmer with an unmatched knowledge of the land and the industry, Stuart leads by example — in the field, in the community, and in the boardroom.

Cole McMahon
Owner & Farm Manager

Cole returned full time to McMahon Farms after completing his Agribusiness degree at the University of Saskatchewan and spending three years at ATB Financial as a lending underwriter — an experience that sharpened his understanding of agricultural finance and business strategy. Married to Erinn and now raising their son Jake in the main farmhouse, Cole brings both the education and the deep-rooted passion needed to help lead McMahon Farms into its next chapter. As Owner and Farm Manager, Cole is involved in daily operations, strategic planning, and the implementation of modern, sustainable farming practices. Beyond the farm, Cole sits on the Flagstaff County Agriculture Service Board and is a proud member of the Galahad Lions.

Your land is your legacy.
Trust it with someone who
treats it like their own.

Whether you're ready to retire from farming, looking for a reliable tenant, or simply exploring your options — McMahon Farms is a name that has been trusted in this community for nearly a century. We don't just farm land. We steward it.

Land Lease Options

Looking for a dependable, long-term tenant for your farmland? McMahon Farms offers flexible arrangements tailored to what works best for you and your land. We invest in soil health, drainage, and weed control — because healthy land is the foundation of everything we do.

Cash Rent

A straightforward fixed cash rental rate per acre, paid annually. Simple, predictable, and hassle-free for landowners who want a guaranteed return regardless of crop prices or yields.

Gross Margin Rent

A flexible arrangement where rent is tied to the revenue generated from your land. When commodity prices are strong, you share in the upside. When markets are tough, the rent adjusts accordingly — a fair deal for both sides.

Custom Farming

Prefer to retain ownership of the crop while having us do the work? We offer custom farming services — seeding, spraying, and harvesting your land at a set per-acre rate. You keep control of marketing and inputs; we provide the equipment and expertise.
